- Wae Rebo
This heavenly traditional village in Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara located more less 1200 meters above sea level, surrounded by natural hills, cool and refreshing air, like heaven above the clouds. The traditional house is the icon of Wae Rebo, with conical roof, there are 7 main houses and it’s called Mbaru Niang. To reach this beautiful village, guests need to travel around 6 kilometers from Dintor village to Denge village with motorbike. From Denge to Wae Rebo, will take about 3 hours trekking. Need an effort to go to this village, however it will be paid of once you reached it. It might be one of the most beautiful village in Indonesia, other than the beautiful view, you will also welcome by the friendly local peoples. No wonders why this village is loved and well-known globally and locally.
Kelimutu is well-known because of it has three volcanic crater lakes that differ in color. The Lakes colors periodically change due to adjustment in the oxidation-reduction status of the fluid of each lake, and considering the abundance of different major elements, such as iron and manganese. The scenic lakes are a popular tourist destination. The most requested activity is catching sunrise in the top of Kelimitu crater by trekking. Usually, tourists sleep one night to catch sunrise at Kelimutu. Kelimutu location is close to the small town of Moni in central Flores. In the early days of developing the local national park in the Kelimutu area, there were some disputes with local communities over the use of the resources. More recently, forest rangers have worked to develop better relations with nearby village communities and overall management has improved. Accessibility to the airport is also good, the nearest airports are Maumere and Ende. Or if you want to bundle some destination into a unique tailor-made trip, then you can flight to Labuan Bajo instead. There are regular flights to Ende or Labuan Bajo from Bali, Jakarta, Surabaya or another city in Indonesia.
- Bena Traditional Village
Beside the nature, East Nusa Tenggara (Flores) also has a unique rural life at the foot of Mount Inerie, located about 16km from Bajawa, is the most popular village in Ngada district. It is because of the stone formations and ancestral shrines, as well as traditional houses. The most visible in the center of the village are pairs of shrines called Ngadu and Bhaga which representing the clan ancestor.
The ngadhu is an anthropomorphic umbrella-like pole embodying the male ancestor of a clan. The trunk is decorated with carvings and is topped with a warrior-like figure. The ngadhu symbolizes fierceness and virility. After a new ngadhu has been carved out of a special tree, the men of the village carry the pole in a ceremonial way into the village.
The bhaga, a female ancestral clan shrine, is a small hut with a thatched roof that resembles a miniature of a traditional house. It symbolizes the sanctuary of the house and the female body. The bhaga offers enough space for one to two persons to hold rituals for female ancestors.
- Wolobobo Hills
Wolobobo Hills is a panoramic destination with natural beauty and shady trees, located in Turekisa Village, Ngada Regency, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. It is only about 15 minutes from Bajawa to get to Wolobobo. Mount Inerie is also visible from the hills even it sometimes covers with clouds. The hills situated about 1700m above sea levels, however the access is not difficult as the road is quite good. The cool atmosphere is a perfect place to calm and refresh your body, mind and soul. Indonesia has some places well-known as a place above the clouds, and Wolobobo is one of them.
Enjoying sunrise or sunsets on the top of Wolobobo hills, is one of the best places to enjoy it. The combination of enchanted view and sky activity is superb. A place for recharge your energy after a busy life by chilling at a bench or try a swing with breath-taking view. Many visitors love to capture the moment by taking a photos or videos.
- Cunca Wulang Waterfall
Flores Island has not only the Labuan Bajo which has been famous for the beauty of the beaches, but also somewhere approximately 30 kilometers from Labuan Bajo in Wersawa Village, Mbeliling, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, you can find a stunning waterfall. This waterfall is known as the Cunca Wulang Waterfall. It will spoil your eyes once you arrive it this destination with the heavy flow of blue turquoise water. When you arrive in the Cekondo area, you will be directed to the Wersawa Village where you will have to walk again approximately 4 kilometers to reach this hidden blue gem of Flores Island. Plus, you are obliged to hire a local travel guide to help you penetrate the dense forest. All the struggle journeys will be paid off by the beautiful natural scenery. You can swim or just relax enjoying the beauty of the waterfall as you like. You can also jump from a four-meter-high rock to test adrenaline while feeling the freshness of the water.
